Case Study
Butte Community College
Enovity has completed an energy audit and economic evaluation of retrofit opportunities throughout the Butte Community College Campus in Oroville, California. Through sponsorship by Pacific Gas & Electric Company’s Commercial/Industrial/School Audit Program, Enovity surveyed more than a dozen campus buildings totaling more than 250,000 square feet. Campus utility bills were collected and evaluated and an energy survey and engineering feasibility analysis was undertaken. The PG&E program targets potential cost effective upgrades and optimization strategies for lighting, HVAC and control systems. While the results of this particular study are confidential, work on similar projects for other clients has shown potential savings up to 10% of the annual energy bill.
Measures that are typically evaluated in PG&E’s Commercial/Industrial Audit program are:
- High efficiency interior and exterior lighting fixtures
- Occupancy and daylight sensor lighting controls
- Temperature reset control for air handlers
- Static pressure reset control for pumps and fans
- CO2-based demand control ventilation
- Replacement with high efficiency chillers, boilers and other equipment
